Reflex - August 2006
Reflex is an 80's theme bar which the Brewery (Mitchells & Butler) is rolling out across major cities in the UK.

I was the resident DJ at Reflex from the opening week in 2003 up until 3 years after - when i decided to try something different.
The bar is still as busy as ever and a great place to party!

Flares Nottingham Opening Night - October 2003
After a month of closure, Edwards reopened as "Flares" a 70's theme bar which the Brewery (Mitchells & Butler) is rolling out across major cities in the UK.

The opening weekend was very busy, attracting huge crowds on each night. The music policy however is strictly limited to a playlist of 70's hits, rotating about once an hour, so only the really well known tracks are played and passing cutomers are sure to hear something they know. Very limiting for a creative DJ such as myself(!) so I decided to pass on the opportunity this time.

A good point to mention is the new sound system that has been installed. It's basically a PC based system with TFT screen which holds a database of music ,both video and audio tracks, available for selection. The software is a professional package very similar in basic style to "Traktor DJ", with just basic controls (no pitch!). What is does allow is the creation of a sequence (or 'segue') of tracks ready to be put on a stack and executed in turn.
Very handy if you need to run to the toliet ;-)

So, now Nottingham has an official 70's bar, ready to be accompanied by an 80's bar next door - the "Reflex"! Also owned by Mitchells and Butler and to be opening at the end of November.

See You There!

Edwards - 22nd February 2003
Have you ever seen it looking so packed at this time of year? This week I was able to play a strong selection of upcoming house promos.
Thanks to a loving crowd who lapped up the tracks! It was at least 1.5 hours into the night before I had any cheesy requests to deal with ;)
In the past there's been a crowd thats biased to cheesy party tunes, much sweat has been put into educating them into some more respectable sounds and the results are gradually showing. Cheeky Girls RIP.

Big shout to the regulars, thanks for all the support!
